What’s the story?
We had a workshop today on proclaiming readings from Scripture. Our two guest speakers were none other than Robert O’Reilly and Robert Picardo. Robert O’Reilly played Gowron in The Next Generation and Deep Space Nine. Robert Picardo, of course, played the Doctor in Voyager.
They gave some very good advice, and each seminarian had a chance to proclaim a short reading and hear feedback from both of them. Both are devout Catholics and are members of the same parish.

Here is a close-up of the embroidery on the front:
The gryphon represents the two natures of Christ: the king of heaven and the king of earth–the eagle and the lion. He carries the cross while he defeats the serpent.
This is the embroidery on the back:
This is the shield of the faith. It says “the Father is not the Son is not the Holy Spirit” on the outside of the triangle. The inside says “the Father is God, the Son is God, the Holy Spirit is God.”
